Mike Shiver - Feelings

  • Next up on Lost Language is a release from Mike Shiver entitled Feelings. Highly awaited, this release has been getting a good workout from the likes of Armin Van Buuren and Graham Gold to name a couple. First up on Disc One is Cosmicmans Meesah Remix. A big room mix this one that primarily focuses on the use of big sweeping strings. It begins with a pretty basic 4/4 drum pattern and then breaks down into the strings, accompanied with the main guitar melody. Quite a similar path as the original mix to be honest. On the flip is the Harry Peat Remix. This remix takes the original and changes it drastically. Firstly, the remix is quite down tempo, compared to the original and other mixes. It makes good use of a nice bouncy baseline and subtle synths riding the production. The vocals are cut up and sparingly used, but essentially this remix gives the release a groove rather than all out attack on the dance floor. On the a-side of Disc Two is the Original Vocal Mix. It begins simply enough with the beats and soon enters the breakdown where the strings, and this time, the vocals take over. The main guitar melody also enters the fray soon enough, and the track soon takes off when the beats come back in. The production breaks down one ore time before its peak towards the end. On the flip is the Rusch & Murray Mix. The drums in this mix have been reworked and give the production a good flow. It continues to flow with a good progression of synths, baseline and the use of the full vocals. It also makes good use of the main strings and guitar riffs midway into the track. A release that is sure to go down well with the trance heads. The Peat mix may not however, but it offers a mix for those who don’t want the hands in the air moments.
