- Coming to prominence through DJ Deep's Deeply Rooted House in 2010, Cédric Bros, AKA Marcelus, switched to Tresor around this time last year for the Super Strength EP. The Parisian now returns to the Berlin techno institution with three new productions.
Holding pattern to previous tracks like "Utopian" and "Suspension," a futuristic aesthetic runs through Emerald. With a slight air of Smallville-era Move D about it, the title track blends elongated trance tones over spacious percussion. Sure, it doesn't cover any new ground, but its melodic and understated depth gives an immersive quality. A tighter packed and texturally coarser reprise is less engaging, but "Unseen Force," a serene and cinematic deep house cut, completes a generally well-crafted EP that further illustrates Tresor's broadening sound.
