The Greek feat. Stephanie Vezina - Alive

  • The Greek, aka Tone Depth, is back on track with 'Alive' featuring the gorgeous vocals of Stephanie Vezina. The original was featured on Sharam's Global Underground Afterclub mix and has never looked back. Fellow Greek producer Gpal, has provided two remixes of his own to add to this solid doublepack. The original mix kicks off with deep, solid drums and mellow, subtle synths as Stephanie's moody vocals flow in softly quite early on. As the lyrics roll on, so does the intense groove as the simple treble and bass elements go one out with each other which gives pace to the track. An authentic guitar melody bounces from speaker to speaker which is then met by a synth lead breakdown along with scattered but light high hats. The deep drums come back into play as the track starts to evolve with the guitar melody, soothing vocal and atmospheric synths. The Gpal Strings Of Life remix starts with Stephanie's vocal and low synths while is leads up to a pumped up bass drum. Soon an earth moving bassline is introduced which has a great low end effect while the vocal takes centre stage. Smooth percussion keeps up with the mix while it enters a short breakdown and assists the vocal. As the mix moves on, the bassline is still the prominent feature but are overshadowed suddenly by powerful synths just before it enters the main breakdown. The total track time goes for 13 minutes and is a total journey of driving beats and string based melodies and would be very versatile either playing from the start of nearer the middle. Gpal shows another side of production with the Gpal Funky Dub that lifts the feeling up a notch and throws together enticing percussion and lush basslines. A trippy synth rolls over and more sustained synths draw close while light droppings of the vocal appear. A gorgeous breakdown floods in with ethereal synths and the guitar melody which is then met by a toned down break beat and more trippy melodic hooks. Slowly building with a 4x4 beat, the track kicks back in with all elements turned on. All mixes keep that underlying link between each with melody and bassline. A sure bet for anyone who likes things deep.
