The Persuader - Fusion Of Thoughts

  • Along with Adam Beyer and Cari Lekebusch, Jesper Dahlbäck helped make Swedish techno a byword for energetic, muscular dance floor music in the mid-'90s. 11 years after he mothballed The Persuader, Dahlbäck delivers Fusion Of Thoughts, his second release under the moniker in recent months, following an EP for France's Concrete at the tail end of 2013. "Fusion Of Thoughts" rides breaking waves of pneumatic snares, analog drones and walloping kicks. In comparison, "Transform Human" is a less strident, more intricate beast, with tightly wound toms and hi-hats that spit like bacon fat. Stockholm LTD boss Pär Grindvik doesn't tinker unnecessarily on his remix of "Fusion Of Thoughts," sticking with the same relentless pace of the original, but spicing it with bristling drops. "Absolute Reliance" is the deadliest of the four. The bass is just as all consuming, but Dahlbäck works in flecks of bouncing acid, tripped-out percussion and, most potently of all, jazzy Rhodes licks. A record to get lost in, its dizzying atmospheres are worth the entrance price alone.
