- Next up on Border Community is a young man by the name of Nathan Fake. His debut single for the label, Outhouse, has been doing the damage on dancefloors all over the world in the last few months, and the track which featured on James Holden’s Balance mix is set to be a big release for Border.
The Main Mix first up sets the scene with some delicate beats. The droning baseline soon enters the production and really it gives it edge with the note changes early on. The smooth melodic synths of the main melody build the track in the first few minutes as the drum pattern also changes shape with the progression of the track. The first breakdown sees the melody go solo with swooshing effects in the background. As the beats come back in the track really begins to take off with all the elements joining in great unity as the melody also evolves. It is quite simply a great production, and one that has an undeniable big room appeal.
The Fluffy Mix is a more laid back approach then the original, beginning with some quirky claps and beats as the melody rings in the forefront. The melody changes shape throughout as the beats continue to flow, while a baseline enters midway through giving it a subtle groove.
The Beaty Tool Mix is perhaps more then just a tool, and will appeal to those that may have disliked the main melody as it only makes a very brief appearance. The track takes a very standard 4/4 beat pattern, but the baseline gets cut up and mashed all over the place and never really develops as it does in the main mix, which gives this track a great quirky feel. The breakdown midway sees the melody get heavily effected and filtered to great results. A very interesting mix this is.
Another winner for Border Community, and a great introduction to a producer, who only at the age of 20, is sure to feature in the following years. Watch out for Nathan Fake, and indeed watch out for Border Community who with only 2 releases under their belt, are sure to gain in strength with releases from MFA and Petter coming soon.
