Hypnotic State - Give Me A Break

  • The second release from Bill Vega & New Decade's own Full Intent imprint is Hypnotic State's Give Me A Break. Hypnotic State was a title previously reserved for New Decade's solo efforts back in the old skool days, it's now revived for '03 for the trancier side to Bill Vega & New Decade. Side A. Give Me A Break Crisp drums, deep basslines and techy hooks make up the brunt of the original mix. Give Me A Break has a real old skool feel thanks to the stirring synths which make up the melody on top - quite like Future Sound Of London back in the Papua New Guinea era. Add to that some techy hooks on top and a slightly cheesy vocal sample which somehow feels out of place and Give Me A Break is a tune which can sit on the fence between trance and breaks... Trance-step - errrrr! Side B. Give Me A Break Bill Vega's remix keeps much of the original theme, leaving the techy hooks, synths and vocal smaple intact. Bill Vega switches up the drums to give it a breakier feel and gives the bass an adrenaline injection to work on harder dancefloors. Nice work from Full Intent, not straying away from the old skool meets nu skool theme, hopefully they'll continue with this in future releases.
