Roch Dadier – The Seeker EP

  • *Back Catalogue Review* The 2nd release on Portrait Records comes from Head Honcho Roch Dadier, with The Seeker EP. The Seeker is a tough but enticingly funky piece of production from Roch. The drums are noticeably heavy with hi hats and percussion wildly raging, while a high-toned funky riff rings in the foreground giving it a melodic edge somewhat. It’s a great production that really is peak time material. The Guide is a heads down techno stormer with deep tribal elements. The track has a constant low-end flow, with drums and deep base rumbles uniting for the whole duration. I’itineraire again showcases the funkier side to Dadier’s production as funky melodic riffs maintain a looped flow while the kick drums pounds in the background of the track. Overall this is one of the uplifting moments on the EP, and a real highlight. The Discovery lifts the pace a bit and uses some solid groovy baselines as well as some African inspired vocal lines. Some subtle atmospheric effects also add to this production which is quite unique and vibrant to say the least. This is a quality EP that showcases the fantastic talent of Roch Dadier, and should really put a lot of people on to the talents of Portrait Records. Expect more quality like this from Roch.
