- "Drops," by Romanian producer Cosmjn, is a slippery record. It begins with drums that beat out a '90s hardcore rave rhythm in the style of Head High, but with only a lick of bass and a rich melody it eventually becomes an immersive deep house record. It's nice enough, but the drums that forcefully introduce the track sink meekly into the polite chords that come later.
Marcellus Pittman's remix turns "Drops"'s galloping stride into a canter, and puts a bumpy bassline to work alongside continuous synths that swell and subside uneasily. It's about as good as you'd expect a Pittmann remix to be, and adds some much-needed weight to this otherwise slight EP.
