Ladybyrd – Ground Down (Joshua Collins Mixes)

  • Paolo Mojo’s Music Is Freedom stable kicks off the New Year with a release from Ladybyrd with 2 Joshua Collins Mixes of Ground Down. After a pretty impressive 2003, MIF are set to keep the ball rolling with the first set of remixes of this pretty impressive tune. On the a-side is Joshua Collins Log Chopper Mix. This is a real summer tune right here, as Collins yet again showcases his solid talent in the studio. Smooth beats are the way of this production, accompanied with some chirpy melodic rings as well as a deep and ass-shaking baseline. The filtered vocals give the track a lighter vibe, while the progressive synths deep into the track give it a nice warm taste. The Joshua Collins Jackin’ Mix on the flip gives the track a much grittier edge then the a-side did. As the name suggests, the beats get a little dirtier and none of the melodic tingles that made a-side get a look in. The vocals still appear, but if anything, this track gets a little chunkier as it progresses. In fact this mix is definitely made for the floors of the clubs rather then the outdoor sunny setting, and there is nothing wrong with that at all. Good solid house music. This is really what you come to expect from Music is Freedom nowadays. Absolutely solid tunage here, with 2 contrasting mixes from Collins, both of which are top draw material. Check it out; you are sure to be pleased with the outcome.
