Ryeland Allison is a producer that definitely made a good name for himself in 2003 with productions alongside Dave Dresdon in particular getting him well deserved praise. He now makes an appearance on Teknology Recordings on his own with How To Get Down.
The Original Mix on the a-side is quite gritty in its approach, with dark and dirty undertones throughout the production. Quirky scratch and loop effects are used throughout as well to give it a unique outlook, but the track really intensifies with the guitar riffs that launch themselves into the track midway in.
The Turkey Shoot Mix on the flip I think is a little more impressive. It has a breakier beat pattern, and the gritty edge is not lost with the guitar riffs, the vocal line and the cluttered effects all adding to the uniqueness of this production. Again pretty unique stuff in this mix.
All in all it is a pretty unique release for Ryeland, and a track that is sure to appeal to those that like their electronic music a little tough and dirty.
