Halogen Vs Nash T – On a Bridge
Label / CP Recordings
Cat # / CPR004
Released / March 2004
Style / Breaks/House
Rating / 4

Halogen Vs Nash T is the next release on UK label CP Recordings. The release sees Canberra based producer Nash T utilise the vocal talents of Jasmine Yee to create the delicate atmospheric breaks production that is On a Bridge. The disc also comes with a remix from Canadian producers Powerplant who had great success with the production ‘With or Without You’.

The Original Mix is extremely smooth throughout. A nice deep baseline is created with delicate beat patterns floating over the low end sounds, as well as the smooth effects that subtly ride the production. The vocals of Jasmine also work very well with the track, as the musical elements seems to take directions based on the vocal movements.

The Powerplant Remix on the flip lifts the pace a little in its 4/4 form. Good solid drums unite with a nice driving baseline which work quite well with the vocal as it makes appearances not quite as common as the original. Not a bad remix at all from Powerplant but not groundbreaking either, and for me, not as infectious as the original mix.

A solid first disc release for On a Bridge, with the second disc featuring mixes from Blue Haze and Blueroomproject. But be sure to check out the very tasty Original mix here in particular.

Wed, 13 May 2009I disagree with the review, the Powerplant mix kicks ass. It starts out nice and smooth with an almost floaty vocal. It then proceeds to drop the phattest, most serious bass line you can imagine. I have played this out many times it goes over very well every time. There is a 'Rich D Waiting For You Dub' remix available as a download only that is so sick, even sicker than this one. Somebody liked this so much it got stolen, which is very rare as I've only had 3 records stolen in like 17 years
