Audio Riot Sampler

  • The latest 12" release from Australian label Audio Riot sees a group of Sydney based DJ's and producers remix tracks from international artists. Audio Riot are one label that supports Australian talent and this is evidenced by their last compilation CD release to celebrate the DMA's. Side A. D.Kay & Epsilon featuring Stamina MC - Barcelona (RED Remix) Barcelona is already a huge tune in drum'n'bass circles, with drum'n'bass being able to add yet another latin flavoured release to it's list of anthems. To take the tune into slower 135 bpm tempo is RED - the team comprised of breaks DJ's Kid Kenobi, Q45 and drum'n'bass DJ Ritual. After hearing the original release, one thing can be said about Stamina MC's lyrics - they feel like they're being sung too quickly for the song. Taking things down a notch to breakbeat tempo suits the vocals really well. RED don't deviate too far from the original tune keeping the flamenco guitar intact while adding a few synth and bass stabs to good effect. Top stuff. Side B. Static Revenger - So High (Goodwill Meets In Tha Box Mix) Ambient moods and long winded vocal strings kick off So High before Goodwill and In Tha Box turn it into a bass heavy house tune. In typical Goodwill style, this is one tune for big dancefloors. After a big breakdown, the tune builds up adding in the vocal sample, bass line and lots of top end madness - sirens etc. I haven't heard the original so I'm not able to make a proper comparison but I'm not really feeling this.
