U & K - Atmosphere

  • Next up from the most popular Finnish production duo, U & K, comes Atmosphere on UK based label Confi-Dance. The label looks to continue its run of good form following releases from quality artists such as Subsky and Blue Haze. The Original Mix begins things off in stylish fashion, and it sees U & K producer their most uplifting production in the way of string patterns and synths. The track builds nicely with a smooth baseline and mellow drum patterns, before melodic tones soon enter the fray and continue to build until the main breakdown sees a smooth and subtle piano line hover over smooth atmospheric hums, which then leads into the drums coming back into the play shortly accompanied with some epic synth patterns. Panoptic turn in quite a minimal remix on the flip, which is a little unusual considering the big room feel of many of their remixes and original works in the past. The drums flow nicely throughout, but the highlights come in the subtle but delicate breakdowns which see the warm piano line from the original as the main focus. Not a bad release by Confi-Dance, despite the slightly disappointing Panoptic remix. Nevertheless the original is quite a nice outing for U & K, and although disappointing, the remix by Panoptic does have some strong points.
