- TAFKAMP's last release was the third and final instalment of Paling Trax, a fleeting white label series from Rotterdam dedicated to the filthy, up-all-night-and-loving-it sound of rave. Dreamy, funny, heady and hard, the series managed to cover all these bases with just a few releases. TAFKAMP's vintage bangers, "Boy Is Bangin" and "I Laf You," were arguably the best, and certainly the cheekiest, of the lot. TAFKAMP vacates the club jester role on the latest split-EP for Thanos Hana's Tar Hallow label, swapping it for sleek, serious techno.
"Baldadig" is a dank send up to a darker, hardcore past. Cool winds billow through this abandoned tunnel as vintage machines stomp and crash a path through the murk. The EP's standout track, "Binnenweg 3," is even deadlier. It's a creeper, evolving into a mind-scrambling jam of leaden beats and icy pings, loose-limbed yet clinically precise in its delivery. Thanos Hana's B-side productions are angsty and will provoke a more immediate response from the floor. "YY" is playful, with an industrial temper quietly raging in the background. TH06 isn't as ingeniously offbeat as Rhyw's recent Tar Hallow release, but these tracks will keep a warehouse raver shuffling long into the night.
