Piliavin & Zimbardo - Dub Boy/Deep Trouble

  • This is Distreakt Records impressive first release; the collaboration between Piliavin & Zimbardo has followed their successful remixes for the likes of Terry Farley’s "Praying [Children of the House]"and their two-tracker coming soon on Eric Morillo’s Mighty Sondos label. Dub Boy, starts as it means to go on, with a distorted paranormal lyric melting into the bouncing tribal beats as the looping high hat drops in to entertain the underlying base. This track rapidly builds into a nimble little feet stomper/head nodder but as it breaks away from its original path you get just enough breathing space to catch a glimpse of reality, then it throws you back to the deepest Amazon! The overall results are a satisfying blend of hard-hitting, techie, tribal rhythms that mature as the track progresses. Deep Trouble, opens with a much simpler sound than that on side A, focusing more on the high hat, coupling with heavier beats and a more distorted vocal sample reminiscent of a pre-pubescent "Vader". It progresses well into a menagerie of mysterious and distinctly interesting sounds draped perfectly over the melodic base. This musical morsel is sure to be effective on the dance floor and will satisfy the appetite of any tribal chief out there!
