- Dropship Recordings is a new label dedicated to breakbeat based in Spain and set up by one DJ Danny K who's been making a name for himself as one of Spain's premier breakbeat DJs. The first release for the label sees a tune from head honcho Danny K and a tune from the UK's Transformer Man on the flip.
Side A. Danny K - Sinister Moonlight
Danny K shows off his fascination for techy breaks with a tune full of arpeggio melodies, techy hooks and hard hitting breakbeats with dub style drum fills and dubby bass lines permeating this track. After a quick intro, Danny pulls off a massive build up before bringing back a heavier bass line and incorporating a few rave-like synth stabs during the second phase.
Side B. Transformer Man - Buddy Holly
Transformer Man has made a name for himself in the underground breaks scene with his clean production styles, heavy bass lines and rave influenced hooks and tech melodies and on Buddy Holly he fails to disappoint. After a quick percussive introduction the tune goes into a breakdown featuring a strange vocal sample accompanied by an eerie synth melody. A big chunky and slightly melodic bassline kicks in featuring plenty of bass growls and filter effects. Halfway through the tune cuts into a lone piano melody before bringing back the mad bass and big drum beats.
My pick on this one has to be the Transformer Man tune, however newcomer Danny K should be one to watch out for in the future.
