- Relaxer is a project from Daniel Martin-McCormick, who recently announced the retirement of his Ital name. IV is the fourth in a series of EPs from Relaxer, whose name is actually a red herring—the music is tense. A series of horror screams set the tone on "Jamie Lee," which one can only assume is an homage to Jamie Lee Curtis. If it was faster, it could be goa trance.
"Unwind" is steely techno mixed with atonal drone that sets your teeth on edge. "Regime Change" is drumless, with an anti-melody feels incomplete, a feeling that's enhanced by muffled fragments of dialogue. There's an overriding sense of disorientation on IV. With maniacal screaming that buts against synth delirium and ominous uneasiness, what it misses in dance floor funk is made up for with drama.
