  • When reading a press releases that mention heavy play by DJs and include the king of all that are name dropped - Sasha - I'm reserved with my initial judgment of producers that I am only semi-familiar. So throwing Pig & Dan's - known in the real world as Dan Duncan and Igor Tchkotoua - debut artist album Submission Sessions Vol 1 in my CD player I was happy to see that some if not many parts of it sound like something cut straight out of DJ set of many of the industries underground greats. Submission is many things. It is a great artist album and it is a great mix CD but more importantly it features a great range of productions. From the upbeat progressive sounds to the light trance rifts to the mellow chillout vibes and the funky beats this is an artist album worth picking up. Where some tracks are nice soulful subtle mixes with vocals adding depth, others are deep, and feature more traditional house sounds. I'm not going to waste you're time with a track-by-track lowdown I'm just going to say that if you want something fresh with a progressive tint you'll want to pick this up. Each of the tracks are mixed, very nicely, carrying a few samples (and vocals in a few occasions) over to the next track. Submission Sessions is not a compilation CD nor is it a straight artist album, but it sits some in between ...a hybrid of sorts. What you will find most refreshing about the mix is that it not your standard artist album in the sense of – a bunch of tracks with the same style of sound featuring a different order of beats - but it is a seemless ride into an array of varying and top class production works. And when artists as diverse as Sven Vath, Danny Howells, John Digweed and Marco Carola have all signed on the dotted line - playing Pig+Dan's tunes you know these guys are doing something right. The album reflects their talent and once you hear tracks like 'Supersonic' you will understand why this one has been a big favourite. Tracklisting 01. What Am I Doing Here 02. Mongoid 03.
