Morel - If You Love Me

  • Even though the guys in Washington DC released a promo [YR114] with Morel’s Under a Disco (Making Sense Pt.3) back in April 2004, it seems that they changed their minds after all and they are releasing this one instead. If you Love Me is the first single off Morel’s brand new artist album Lucky Strike and long-awaited follow-up to the awesome ‘Cabaret’. This excellent track, firmly establishes Richard Morel as a true pioneer of the rock-dance hybrid sound that is taking the electronic music world by storm. Apart from the track’s original version and Morel’s exquisite ‘Pink Noise Extended Mix’, Yoshitoshi employs the remix services of favourite Dean Coleman who contributes amazing vocal and dub remixes to this new double pack. Keeping in line with Morel’s gruff, smoky vocals, Dean keeps the production dirty with tough drums and some crunchy synths. Completing the package is a remix from virtual newcomers Samio & MRN. Last seen on Yoshitoshi with his remix of Dean Coleman’s ‘Kontakt’, Samio brings his deep progressive style back to add a darker tone to the record, and MRN (known mostly for his Drum & Bass work) pulls Photek by crossing the musical boundaries to add his touch to this rework. A beautifully crafted remix from Samio & MRN from whom I am pretty sure we’ll see more quality stuff in near future. This release gives us a hint of what Morel's long awaited artist album will sound like; it’s definitely going to be a gem in your record collection.
