Very much a man in form, Derek Howell makes his debut on Fortier’s Fade Records label in the form of two mixes of Funk It.

First up is the Original Mix and it comes just in time for the Australian Summer (sorry everyone else!). Nice beats accompany some very smooth string patterns as well as very nice latino like riffs, and don’t forget the very tasty baseline that holds it all together!

On the flip is the more peak time Breaks Mix that is a bit more intense with nice driving chord patterns and chunky kick drums. It’s quite good to see that Derek has made a great effort to differentiate the two mixes despite the obvious similarities with many of the sounds.

A pretty good release here on Fade by an amazingly talented producer. Well worth a look.
