- Digital Breaks Foundation are the latest signing to Boombox Records. Boombox are renowned for launching the careers of many breakbeat artists including NuBreed, Friendly, General Midi and of course stable artists DJ's Mole and Crow.
Side A. One Inch Punch
One Inch Punch features a mellow tech hook, ambient sweeps and a crisp rolling breakbeat. Similar in many ways to the styles and sounds of Danny McMillan and his Inflight Recordings imprint. Digital Breaks then take the tune one step further by adding in a growling bass line and a trance-like synth riff - inna progressive tech breaks stylee.
Side B. Ultimate Indecision
Ultimate Indecision kicks off with an ambient techy intro - perhaps only good used if used as an opening tune before a 4/4 beat kicks in combined with razor sharp stabs and another deep growling bassline - similar to the A-side. Continuing with their crossover trance/breaks sound, they incorporate another trance hook into the tune and during the closing stages implement a nice percussive break into the beat.
It's a good release for Boombox, showing that they can cross over with the best of them, however they've had better crossovers, especially their last release from Sifter & Adan - bridging the gap between tech house and breakbeat and doing it in fine fashion too!. If I had to pick from one of these, it would have to be One Inch Punch.
