Infusion @ Sounds on Anzac Sunday, Sydney

  • After the news that Sounds on Anzac Sunday had sold out in record time for a Sounds long weekend event, the feeling was that this day was going to be something a little special. But of course when you have one of the world’s leading Electronic acts in Infusion returning home for a five piece live performance, you can only expect something special to eventuate. The lads of course have been extremely busy lately after visiting Miami in March and headlining the Resident Advisor Party, and generally causing a storm overseas and locally, and the anticipation was extremely high on a soothing Sunday in Sydney. Mark Dynamix must be commended on the great set he provided shortly before Infusion performed. Mark really got the place going with some great tracks like the Trentmoller Remix of Yoshimoto, ‘Fake’ by Beckers as well as a storming remix of U2 just as the sun was setting. As Mark finished the vibe was at a great high as the sell out crowd seemed to converge to the front of the extensive set up to catch the trio in action. Some would say it was a miniature Big Day Out scene as people jammed close and tightly in the courtyard. It was well worth it! Infusion definitely delivered the goods as they played a host of storming productions as well as some more downtempo tracks as well. They plaed the tracks that have seen them rise to great fame of late, including ‘Girls Can Be Cruel’ and ‘Better World’, as well as playing some of the anthems that have been big in clubs such as ‘Do To You (in 82)’ and their fantastic remix of Will Saul’s ‘Cliff’. Everytime I have seen Infusion they always seem to lift the energy levels to heights that you may not thought possible, and yet again they performed such wonders by playing a set that included the peak time moments you expect from Infusion, as well as some more quirky and gritty tracks helped by the added bass player and guitarist. I must say that the Anzac Weekend delivered one of the better Sounds event that I have been to, and considering the almost endless amount of quality events that the Sounds crew delivers these days, that is saying something indeed. Every room was jammed packed till the end with all DJ’s appearing to deliver their best, making the wait to We Love Sounds in the June Long Weekend even more unbearable then it already was!
