Dave Seaman, home saturdays

  • It was time for another Dave Seaman session at Home Nightclub. On this occasion, rather than a Renaissance event, it was an event that promoted his latest Global Underground release from Melbourne. For those who have seen Dave at Home, it is clear to see that he has a love for the place. He has always enjoyed himself there, which in itself lifts the mood on the dance floor. There was no change in attitudes, in this his latest visit, and as such there was a real buzz when Dave took control of the ship after Goodwill had done a good job playing the warm up set. This set was quite similar to his latest visit late last year. It definitely lacked the trademark Dave Seaman uplifting progressive sound that he has championed for the last decade. As such, it was a much deeper and at times banging Seaman that was witnessed. From Baseline monsters such as Mass’ mix of Moby to all-time Dave Seaman favourite Chase The Sun, the set had enough variation and energy to keep all those there interested for the 3 hour duration. For the trainspotters, here is a list of some tunes that were recognized on the night: Interflow – “Storyreel” (Satoshi Tomiie Mix) Infusion – “Legacy” (Synesthesia Dub) Loader – “Nothing Is” Koma & Bones – “Unknown” Head Honcho – “Walls Of Jehrico” Head Affect – “Afrochrome” (Gentles Dirty 131 Mix) Kosheen – “Hungry” (Satoshi Tomiie Remix) Moby – “We Are All Made Of Stars” (Timo Maas Dub) Timo Maas – “To Get Down” Depeche Mode – “Freelove” (Josh Wink Remix) Pete Lazonby – “Wavespeech” (Tilt Remix) Jayne Hanna – “Lost Without You” Jaimy & Kenny D – “The Gathering” Cosmos – “Take Me With You” Planet Funk – “Chase The Sun” Blast – “Crazy Man” (thanks goes to a certain English lunatic) The crowd. Well, it was quite packed on the main floor, showing the level of following that Dave has established in Sydney. It was a well up for it crowd too. Has Dave ever signed so many flyers, posters, limbs etc. in one night? All in all, everyone was appreciative of a man who loves doing what he does. That goes for Jason Bye too as the dance floor didn’t dare empty when he stepped up to the decks, and he delivered another quality set, as he does so often.
