Sensi Allstars - Big Riddim with Control Z/Decade Of Jungle

  • Now that Ed209 is running Hardcore Beats alongside Ollywood, it seems that his own imprint, Wireframe has been put on the backburner - the last Wireframe release was the highly sought after Infectious (which every tear-out breaks DJ has been caning and tracklisting) with Blow A Fuze on the flip (one that I found to be much better than the A-side!) Well now all that waiting and wishing can be laid to rest as Wireframe returns with a new platter and 2 new signings to the label. Sensi Allstars and Control Z have previously released on Hardcore Beats with Give It To Em/Badman and this time the two join forces to cause more dancefloor devastation. Big Riddim with Control Z The intro features a dark and spooky Theremin melody, a bubbly electro hook and hard breakbeats. After the first buildup the tune then delves into a monotonic bassline, ravey synths, a plethora of vocal stabs all the while keeping the Theremin melody intact and the beats rough. This one's a tribute to the warehouse rave sounds of breakbeat back in the early days and they've thrown in massive sirens and crowd sounds to prove their point. Decade Of Jungle Another tribute style tune, this time paying respect to the sounds of early jungle. A deep drum break lays down the beat for another moody synth melody accompanied by loads of synth sweeps and booming bass drops. During the first breakdown the Allstars introduce a synth hook and two vocal samples - one sung while the other is a ragga vocal chant. If you think that's the limit of their sampling prowess, the samples increase as they drop various vocal stabs from I presume are old jungle tunes. They've certainly got a big sound, but this tune sounds really dark and in some ways quite dull. Hopefully they can lift it up for their next release.
