  • “In the beginning Good overpowered the evil of all mans sins”...Yeah right! No body told Tommy Lee about that. Given this Legend’s rep a collage of images invade my imagination when his name is blasted but I have to say that Tommy Lee behind a set of decks is not one of them! In saying that, having been a Motley Crue fan... umm... ’back in the day’ I also know that you can’t put a single thing past this maniac of Mayhem! So with that in mind curiosity got the better of me and I cruised down to Home on Monday night prepared for anything and what I got was an ambience unparalleled by anything I’ve ever experienced. Imagine walking into Home nightclub only to be faced with the most diverse cross section of punters imaginable. From retro 80’s glam to Punk, Street style to Club class and, for the pure candy of image, Westie Metal head! All surrounding a virtually empty dance floor cold with tunes spun by Gus da Hoodrat. That’s offcourse not to say that his attempt to win over the crowd with the classic ‘Video Killed the Radio Star’ went unnoticed but it wasn’t until Kid Kenobi hit the decks with ‘Funky Cold Medina’ and Mc Shureshock turned up the mood with his fresh style and energising way did the gaps start to fill and life start to pump through the bodies of even, what seemed to be, the most die hard rockers. To say it straight I’m sure I saw ears prick to attention to a club style possibly not experienced by some and will be talked about over a VB in a suburban backyard drumfire party this summer…. …Then it happened. I looked up to the mezzanine level to see The Rock God himself scoping a peak at us then disappearing in to the darkness only to be followed soon after by one glamour after another... obviously to get him warmed up??..maybe, but before ya had time to complain about how long these celebs take to actually show up DJ Aero was being intro’d and next you knew the crowd was blastin TOMMY as the man himself appeared and progressed to assist Aero in some of the hardest high-energy big beats, acid house and electroclash this side of the 22nd century, and I mean just that with a sound that may be what takes us to the future of hard electronic sounds. DJ Aero was apparently plucked out of obscurity by Tommy Lee - from a submitted videotape - and immediately put on tour w/ Tommy's new band, ‘Methods of Mayhem’. In all honesty I’d have to say that he drives the show in the true sense of the word and Tommy provides the on board entertainment so to speak. Without Tommy’s Crazy instability Aero would just be another electronic DJ with a subtle persona that doesn’t capture any punter’s imagination but together they explode into a show that keeps your heart pumpin to the end! tommy lee at home sydney Offcourse Tommy wouldn’t be TOMMY LEE if there wasn’t Tattoos, Hot Chicks & Alcohol involved. Soon after the vibes began to course through your veins and satisfy every pulse in your brain he released a troop of what seemed to be randoms but very select dancers to coat the front of the stage with total eye candy, frequently pointing out to the crowd just how hot he thought they were by ‘appreciating’ every part of their bodies as they moved to the erratic beat. Just when he felt that a stream of sound was decent enough for him to tear himself away from the mixer, a strategically placed champagne bucket filled with bottles of Vodka & Jagermeister was raided just to have a quick scull of Jagermeister and proceed to pour a shot down the throats of all the dancers and crowd alike!! You’ve never seen the bitter taste of Jagermeister enjoyed so much as when it’s being administered by the original Dr Feelgood himself. After an unpredictable journey through Tommy’s interpretation of Electro and DJ Aero pushing him to a close they prepared a descent from whatever solar system they had taken us to and his wind down was full of verbal appreciation for the crowd reminding us that although we can always count on unsurpassed entertainment and the wildest of antics from the Legendary Tommy Lee, he is only as huge as we make him and, admirably, he doesn’t pretend it to be otherwise. So, if you ask me about Tommy Lee the Rock God I’d have to say DEFINITELY, Legend – for sure, Showman – No Doubt and DJ TOMMY LEE….well maybe when you tack a very talented DJ Aero to his side but one thing is for sure, when Tommy Lee is involved your sure to get your absolute fill of entertainment that you will not find in any other corner of the world! Heavy metal bad boy Tommy Lee definitely reinvents himself as an electronica act to energise your every sense.
