Cr2 unleash a pretty big house anthem here with The Rub by Kurd Maverick. The Rub was quite a big track in Miami this year, with the likes of Danny Howells, Pete Tong and Deep Dish all giving it a good hammering at the conference.
The Original Mix works nicely with a driving foray of deep chunky basslines and a sleazy spoken male vocal. The track remains interesting throughout, mixing things up in the arrangement with differing breakdowns, and a variety of acid riffs and low end sounds.
The Dub Mix for me is a letdown due to its striking similarities to the Original Mix. The vocal is stripped from this mix, but apart from that and a few subtle changes in the arrangement, everything is pretty much in the same order as the a-side.
Kurd delivers a pretty good release here, but don’t expect a classic that will remain in the ‘box’ for more then a month or two.
