Santa Fe - Tunel

  • Mexico's Sango Music is starting to take off. Fresh from the release of Manuel Neztic's "Golfo", tech house duo Santa Fe deliver a dark and moody offering in the form of Tunel. Santa Fe did a fantastic job of remixing Golfo into a funky tech-house/breakbeat crossover and now it's their turn to get a remix. Representing from Romania is Mesmer who is regarded as one of the country's leading breakbeat producers and has been producing breakbeat since 1996 when he was just 16 years old. The original starts with a basic 4/4 kick drum intro and slowly incorporates elements of off-beat percussion, atmospheric synth sweeps and dark, moody overtones. A long winded tone takes control of the first breakdown and gives the tune a surreal and mystical tribal flavour. When the meat of the tune kicks in, Santa Fe give the tune a very gallopy rhythm accompanied by a deep, rumbing bass line, techy hooks and many more techy sweeps and fillers. Mesmer's remix on the other hand gets straight into a breakbeat and the mystical tribal tone from the original makes an earlier appearance. Mesmer keeps the remix true to the original by keeping the original bassline intact yet turning up the volume to give it more prominence - on top of this he also adds his own variation to Santa Fe's bass line - dropping growling bass tones into the mix.
