Good Vibrations Official Afterparty

  • Desyn Masiello at Good Vibrations was the highlight of my day. And Desyn Masiello at the Good Vibrations Afterparty was loads of fun and a perfect end to a fantastic day. The Chinese Laundry is becoming very popular of late with an incredible diversity of acts of offer and the GV Afterparty was no exception. Rocking up relatively early to beat the crowds, we soon realized that everyone else had had the same idea: the lineup was around the corner and down the road. But once inside, we were welcomed by the sounds of Matt & Tomass and the party goers were loving it! Screams of excitement could be heard as he dropped track after track that were familiar, fun and party-friendly – they even dropped Solid Groove’s brilliant ‘This is Sick’. At this stage the crowd was fresh and happy, open to fun stuff and there were no scary people in sight…but it was still early. Heading upstairs for a little we managed to catch a bit of Tim Sea – party tunes for girls to wiggle away to seemed to be the flavour up here but after a day in the sun we were on a different level so we escaped back downstairs to the darkness of the Cave. The Cave had Jeff Drake on offer with MCing by Forey a good solid set, but a little strange to have on before Desyn. Not dark/techy enough for my liking, but the MC was amazing, awesome flow and an incredible lung capacity too. Good Vibrations Official Afterparty Desyn blasted out a delicious mix of funky house, prog, epic tracks and familiar tunes – I caught the Chab remix of ‘Depeche Mode’, Pryda’s ‘Nile’, Derek Howell mix of ‘Can’t Get Enough’ and the Ananda mix of Minilogue’s ‘Seconds’. From lighter tunes to deep driving heavy sounds, the crowd was keen to go wherever Desyn took them – he definitely earned his reputation as one of Sydney’s favourite DJs. Unfortunately the days events and the masses of people rammed into the Laundry got too much for me so we had to depart before the end of his 3.5 hour set. But going off comments from those who managed to stick it out till the end, I missed the best part – the last half hour was apparently deeper, darker and more driving that the rest of his set – my favourite kinds of sounds.
