- Whatever the verdict on minimal, the releases keep a-coming. As if to call attention to the situation, 'Easy' finds the onomatopoetically-named Axel Bartsch churning out another pair of satisfying nocturnal stompers, ploughing no new ground but proving there's still life left in this well-worn path. Bartsch has released a few gnarz-tinged sides for Kompakt and Sport Club and these follow suit: 'Easy' begins with the requisite lean bass-drum combo before spacey synth squiggles zip by, threatening 'Fox-in-Box' zaniness but Bartsch is too earnest for that. Out come a (sparse) procession of rattles, tics and arcade blare - heard a bazillion times before but so effortlessly groovy - and welcomely gruff - it's hard to fault. The B-side is even better, if you can overlook the boompity rhythm shamelessly poached from Anja Schneider's 'Addicted'. Bartsch's drums are louder, and there's none of Mobilee's subtlety and patience, but with dentist drills and glitzy arpeggios strafing past it's the more rollicking.
