Deep Funk Project vs. Austin Leeds - Subritual

  • Share
  • When Mr Leeds from Miami visited Australia he joined Deep Funk Project in the studio and produced the very brilliant 'Subritual'. The track which featured on Nick Warren's Renaissance Revelation disk, continues the trademark Zero Tolerance sound of quality deep and dark dancefloor monsters. Subritual (Original) immediately greets you with the trademark DFP kick and churning baseline. The baseline is definately the biggest asset of this production, as was demonstrated by the reaction it recieved when Nick Warren last visited Sydney at Home Nightclub. However, midway into the track a breakdown looms accompanied with arabic flute like melodies. It's then merged with the drums and baseline elements, and the final outcome will speak for itself. Subritual (Deep funk Dirty Dub) loses the killer baseline and has a lot more focus on hats. The tune starts out a little subdued but the hats and percussion elements build to a quite short breakdown of the arabic influence the original has. The percussion comes crashing back in but one must feel this mix does not have the dancefloor appeal that the original has. Nevertheless it's a welcome flip to the original and may be effective for those deeper floors.
