Sounds on Sunday feat Satoshi Tomiie

  • Upon arrival at about 3pm at Greenwood, I was quickly aware that this was going to be a good day. It was packed, it was sunny and there were good DJ’s on display. Nothing wrong with that recipe. Despite the sunny weather, I headed to the chapel to see Ben and Trent in action, and wasn’t disappointed. The clean and crisp sound of the chapel lended itself to the quality music being played, as it always is, by the Sydney boys of prog. Quality cuts like the Lee Coombs mix of Moby’s “Extreme Ways” as well as Moonface’s mix of Tijuana got good airplay as the chapel was in full flow. Their set wasn’t too slow or too fast, but it was at a perfect pace for the time of day. Really set it up for my next venture – outside to see Satoshi. Well this was the 4th time I have seen Satoshi – and he never seems to disappoint. It was full to the brim outside, and it was definitely one of the most electric atmospheres I have seen at Greenwood. Satoshi’s set matched the atmosphere, starting off with Planet Funk’s gorgeous “Rosa Blue”. There were plenty of massive baseline moments in the set, noticeably from Satoshi’s own remix of Graffik’s “A Lesser Man” and Tomaz Vs’ Filterheadz monster track, “Sunshine”. His set scaled the tougher spectrum of house with a hint of progressive, and ended of with the delicious Slam remix of Dot Allison – “Were not Science”. Other noticeable tunes of the day included: Lamya – “Empires” (Sander K Dub) Underword – “2 Months Off” (Remix) Derrick Carter – “Where You At” Mark Dynamix continued the fun playing a mix of driving prog and trance with records such as Scumfrog’s mix of Iio’s “At The End” and Futureshock’s “Frequncy”. All in all a top day out, with quality music and some lagers under the sun.
