  • Another Saturday night, another Saturday night in Fabric. Except this wasn't. It was a bit more special than usual. The reason? The opening of Horsemeat Disco's long-awaited (and well-deserved) residency in room 3. And the return of both Carl Craig and Cassy to the main room. And it was special. Photo credit: Nick Ensing Sure, it wasn't any busier than normal, but the takeover of room 3 by the HMD boys was a welcome treat. Balloons, disco balls and possibly the most girls ever seen at a HMD event—this was the must-go destination early on in the club with resident DJ Severino playing a fantastic midnight set that took in Moodymann, C&C, Phreek and an immense dub of Omni's "Out Of My Hands." Over in room 2, the surprise of the night was Mark-Henning, who smashed the place to pieces. Such a shame that laptop live sets only get an hour at Fabric (Move D recently was another who could have done with another hour) but Mark lived up to his reputation of techno bad boy. Bring him back soon please. Photo credit: Nick Ensing In the main room, Carl Craig was epic and a bit patchy in room 1—but Cassy was well worth the wait. She started working the vinyl and rotary mixer with her customary oomph at 5 AM, and beat room 1 into submission with a blistering set of techno and house, old and new, ending up with a filthy outing of The Fog's "Been a Long Time." It's certainly been a long time (sorry) since I stayed to the bitter end at Fabric. Top night.
