  • I had been waiting weeks for this gig and I certainly wasn't let down. Alex Taylor opened the night on a high, producing some very sexy house tunes and really warming up the clubbers for Steve Lawlers' much anticipated set. Steve ' the man' Lawler finally appeared in front of the decks, prompting a huge roar from the packed house and the dimming of the lights. With an introduction of swirling winds followed by a sonic boom, (just like "Lights Out"- his latest release), Steve then let the beat kick in with a pulsating rhythm blasting from the front of house. Not merely content with producing the sounds, Steve also put alot of effort onto the lighting set up. Carefully syncopating the colours and lighting sequences with the beats, the result was hypnotic. The joint was jumping when crowd fav 'Camera's ready prepare to flash' (Green Velvet) was pumped up. As the strobes kicked in, the party went into overdrive - and this was only in the first hour. The roof almost fell in as the classic tune, "Give me Love" (Alcatraz) was let loose on the punters. Steve branded the song as his own, effecting a really interesting, progressive remix. Massive hit after hit was unleashed and Steve Lawler was just flawless! His 4 hours at the decks was mesmerizing the crowd, intent on following him through this epic and explosive journey appreciated the precise, delicate mixes he worked all evening. Steve topped off his awesome set by closing with some vocal house tunes which resulted in bringing everyone together for a group hug. An epic set, from a truly gifted DJ gets two thumbs up from this very satisfied clubber!
