The latest release on Music Is Freedom comes from 2 lads from Atlanta in the US by the name of Brett Abrahamson and Damon Fononi, who go by the production name of Habersham and Numinous. 'Mister Cool' is their latest working and it was good enough to feature on Phil K's Balance 4 mix.
The Original mix is a nice 4/4 house affair. Subtle whispering vocals shimmer over a deep and smooth arrangement of drums in the first half of the track. The track continues in the same vein, and is neverbig or flashy in its approach, rather using subtle effects and vocals for its impact.
The Breaks mix on the flip is the strong point of the release for me, and was the mix used by Phil K in his Balance mix. Obviously it uses a more breakbeat drum pattern, but also makes use of a nice, but not too obvious driving baseline. The vocal effects remain in tact, and a nice smooth piano line lifts things midway into the track.
Another solid release on Music Is Freedom. Well worth a look.
