  • The Medicine8 sound is one that has grown in following as it has in quality. The brothers Liam and Luke May are back with their first release in 2003. A1 – Rock Music Pays Off (Original) It has a solid bass line and from the very beginning brings in the super cool husky ‘Rock Music Pays Off’ vocal into full effect. This original mix is a big tune and will instantly warm any dance floor with its full figured electronic sounds. It features all the usual Medicine8 ingredients for an epic release! B1 – King Britt’s Introvert Mix King Britt’s spin on Medicine8’s latest masterpiece is nothing short of quality. It is a fairly laid back number that slowly builds and features a lighter touch on the bass side of things. In a fairly nice way King Britt uses only pieces of the vocal in a much less substantial (to the original) manner towards the middle of this mix. Amongst other areas this mix would definitely work well in a quality after-hours environment. C1 – Steve Mac’s Bongoloid Mix The second remix by one of the Underwater (record label) producer’s (after King Britt of course) is Steve Mac’s excellent Bongoloid Mix. It is much cleaner than the previous two, losing the original dirty feel. And Steve’s work with the vocal fading between the channels goes down a treat. From the start, this mix builds into a strong full forced beat and is nice reinterpretation on the original that would definitely fit a club sound. D1 – Universal Personal This second track by Medicine8 features a smooth electro bass line together with a superb digital voice. This is another track in the great style that Medicine 8 has become famous for and deserves some attention. The press release was right in saying ‘Universal Personal should have been a single’ itself. All in all this is a vinyl pack for many occasions. All three mixes of ‘Rock Music Pays Off’ work in different levels and different environments and will surely be a great diverse release to add to your collection.
