  • As Transmission introduces their second huge international headline another unforgettable night appears to be on the cards. I’m sure like many other trance goers when the names Deleon and Jam X appeared on the line up the heart beats that little bit faster and another calendar date is set aside. The eagerly awaited event was to leave few with disappointment and many with countless memories. Arriving early, a sly smile is brought to the face as the first sights are of many happy party people looking forward to hear the German hard trance legends as well as all the anthems that bring back the recollections of all those other great nights. Straight into the main arena to hear a similar start to Transmission’s 6th Birthday with Ben Korbel and Elroy’s set I via up the right side stairs to gather with a few mates to check out the bar and chill for a while. Considering the line-up it was no surprise that the sports centre filled up somewhat quickly and by 11:30 the place was packed. As an anthem night I was looking forward to hearing a good share of classics and with the likes of Pee Wee and Nervous you could not have wished for more, with favourites like ‘dj Spoke - Ignition, Binary Finary ’99, and Sahara Rave.’ Before I move on I thought I must make mention of the great work that the security did in getting a lot of those idiots sitting on the middle of the dance floor, off. (Seriously sit at the sides, back, stands or chill out) It definitely made the night more enjoyable with more room to dance and move around. Different to see and feel the carpet beneath your feet, saw a few whinging, but overall I think most people weren’t too bothered and got on and enjoyed the night, maybe it was a good change. And then it turns 1. The eagerly awaited trance duo step out onto the stage and the majority of people flock to the main arena to hear the production guru’s live in action. As they dropped ‘The Theme - dj Jurgen’ a tone was set and the crowd could feel that their visit down under was not to be forgotten. The first half included a more vocal start to what I was expecting yet I saw little thwarted especially with tracks like ‘Rank 1 - Airwave’ and ‘DuMonde and Lange - Memory’. As their voyage progressed the two continued to produce an energy behind the decks like no other, hands up and a general look like they were having a good time. Did I hear ‘Can you dig it…’ as the atmosphere intensified they dropped ‘Tomorrow’ followed by the full version of ‘Can you dig it’ what can I say, unf***ing believable. My night was already complete and not even 3 o’clock. (Other favourites through the set included ‘Rock This House - Body Shock,’ ‘Full From Grace - Darren Tate’ and the last track of their set ‘Sexuality - Hi-gate’) A journey from start to finish, hands up in respect to class track selection and unbelievable atmosphere, two words are left in mind to describe that set, “CARPE DEME”. From 3 onwards the nights seems to be much of a blur, but thoroughly enjoyed. More countless track selections by the likes of Yoshi, Fish and Jumping Jack pleasing the crowd with limitless classics. Apart from the name ‘Hellraiser’ I will give the Melbourne boy credit for playing ‘Utah Saints - Something Good’ in the event atmosphere again and there were definitely some other good early 90’s stuff in there, ‘Dye Witness - Masterplan’ and ‘The Prodigy - Voodoo People,’ nice! Spending most of my time in the main room I was not disappointed yet in some ways I do regret not taking a little longer to visit the other rooms. Although I was fortunate enough to catch Rick Rush play ‘Underworld - Born Slippy’ towards the end of the night in one of the smaller arenas, unbelievable. Ok, I just remembered what the f*** was up with the air conditioning? When you pay 50 odd dollars to an event you usually do expect a little bit of ventilation, other than that the sound was good, the lasers and lights were tops, the people rocked and the music was awe-inspiring. A big well done and thank you goes to all those involved with the quality production. 8 out 10 Until May we wait in anticipation for the likes of Hennes and Cold and Yakooza, if any of you readers out there were at Plastic when Hennes and Cold came out last year you may know just how much of a treat your in for, peace out.
