- "Representing London via Manchester via Leeds, Los Angeles and Milwaukee." So goes a bit of the press info for this decidedly heterogeneous three-track, three-act release, all of it owing to a presence at one time at the Hoya:Hoya party in Manchester. It's a loose conceit, and so the connection stays loose, save for a certain allegiance to bass. Eliphino's "Don't Try Be" glimmers and glides with suggestions of comely vocals and more than a little bit of ye olde 2-step spirit. Lorn's "Stranger" is harder and heavier, a series of lurching gut punches and claps striking between five-alarm siren stabs. To round it out, Ras G & The Afrikan Space Program go deep and dubby on "Speaker Smash!!!," with lots of bright ray-gun sounds slithering up out of a dark hole beneath. Each of the three tracks is kind of slight on its own (none goes longer than 4 minutes), but together they sketch out the makings of a worthwhile committee.
