- Heidi followed in the footsteps of Derrick Carter, Ellen Allien, Steve Bug and other such luminaries when she took to the decks for London Electric's A Night With… event. Currently taking her Jackathon nights to clubs around the globe while also holding down a monthly residency on Radio 1, it was surprising to find Bar A Bar almost empty upon arrival at midnight, two hours into her marathon set. But, at this stage, Heidi was merely warming up. The bar itself is not the kind of place you're likely to just stumble into while on an unrelated evening adventure, which indicated that the people were there because they planned to be. Inside the club, you'll find an L-shaped seating area with tables, a small but well-stocked bar and a dance floor that holds around 150 people. The system is loud and fills out the room comfortably without being too overpowering.
As time passed, the venue filled out, with numbers inside swelling from ten or so at midnight to at least 100 or more within a couple of hours, and the once bare dance floor eventually brimmed with moving bodies. Heidi soon began picking up the pace, dropping "Your Sex" by dOP and not letting the energy drop for the rest of the night. By 3 AM, Bar A Bar had been transformed from a near desolate basement to a noisy, bouncing club, where tunes like "I Get Deeper" by Late Nite Tuff Guy and Steve Bug's "Jack Is Back" kept energy levels high. Heidi's slick, flowing selections kept everyone on the dance floor, playing Kenny Hawkes' hypnotic "Dance for Me" in memory of the house legend, who had just passed away.
Deniz Kurtel's "The L Word" provided the night's most euphoric moment, while the close at 6 AM came courtesy of "Love Action" by The Human League, which some in attendance thought was her last track. However, she dug around in the record box to give everyone a final lightning bolt of energy in the form of the ridiculous "A Milli" by Lil Wayne. At the close, the onetime Phonica employee handed out copies of her new Jackathon compilation to the diehards who accompanied her through to the end. "I don't know how I made it through eight hours wearing heels!" she exclaimed. No doubt it was the same gripping energy that kept everyone glued to the dance floor for the whole night.
