Transformer Man - Groove Bassed Technology: Part 1

  • Transformer Man delivers his first EP on Re:Connect Recordings, entitled Groove Bassed Technology: Part 1. If you like your breaks with big baselines, then this is sure to please you. On the a-side is Invalid Command. The track begins with some nicely crafted break beats. It breaks down early into some electro synths that then introduce a return of the beats, covered by a thick and dirty baseline. Pure evil. The track continues its journey into some twisted breakbeat patterns and eerie sounds, and that evil baseline. On the flip is firstly Evil Eye. It continues in the same vein as Invalid Command, but in this instance, the choice of baseline is perhaps not as effective as the track mentioned previously. The beats are not as strong, and the baselines lack the groove that its brother on the flip had. Not too bad nevertheless. After this is Break In Disguise. No disguising here, this is a breaks track through and through, as it begins with a flurry of quirky beats. The baseline soon enters and it feels like this track is a cross between Invalid Command and Evil Eye. Whereas the a-side had a great baseline and drums, this production lacks a groove in the baseline, but has some solid drums, a factor that makes this more appealing then Evil Eye. Again, not bad, but not as good as the a-side. Look out for Invalid Command. A sure dancefloor winner with this production, and definately worth the EP purchase price alone. Check it out.
