Son Kite – On Air remixes May 2004

  • Swedish trance producers, king of the crossover psy/prog genre, Son Kite are back with this double 12” featuring 4 remixes of ‘On air’. New Disco Science Alliance and Lemon 8 remixes will pleased the prog heads while Son Kite’s original and the Deedrah remix are aimed at the psy/prog trance scene. NDSA remix is a wicked techy/prog track with a funky bass line and a really original breakdown, which is much appreciated looking at how cheesy and obvious they normally are in the trance scene nowadays. Dutch producer, Lemon 8, serves us his usual fat drums, tight percussion, slamming snare and techy bass recipe. His productions always sound pretty much the same but they are also always quality; this one is no exception. The original mix by Son Kite is a classic progressive trance track with groovy bass line tinted with an old skool synth line that goes on nicely. Deedrah lift it up a bit for us and their version is definitely more full on psy with rolling bass lines, FX all over and a tight kick drum for whose who like it ‘heads down’. If you are allergic to vinyl you will be pleased to know that the CD version contains another 2 remixes by Future Past (goa) and Midival Punditz (electronica), although these remixes are far less interesting. So there you go... a great package!
