Kolo - Track One (Stereounderground Remixes)

  • The next release on Chris Fortier’s US based FDS Recordings comes from Stereounderground and their remixes of Kolo’s ‘Track One’. They deliver and 4/4 and Breaks remix here and they are both top draw mixes. The Stereounderground Remix for me is the stronger of the two mixes, and the track begins nicely with solid drum beats and deep rumbling baselines. The original chant slowly builds its way into the mix as do some nice melodic riffs. The first breakdown however sees the track really step up a notch as a nice arpeggiated synth line comes into the play, shortly before the 2nd breakdown comes in and introduces a sinister evil baseline. This is top class Progressive stuff right here. The Stereounderground Breaks Mix on the flip has many of the good elements that featured on the a-side, and thankfully it hasn’t remained the same with just a change in the drums. The arrangement gets a make over making this a very solid breaks mix. A very nice release here on FDS, and one that will be familiar to those who have followed Chris Fortier of late as he has included it in many of his playlists.
