Decon & Darryl Windham - Rhythm Revolution

  • Sentient Records is a new imprint and for their first release, they have called upon the services of Decon & Darryl Windham to deliver a progressive based debut release for the label. The production is Rhythm Revolution and it comes with an Original as well as a Dub. First up though is the Original Mix and it has quite an intense and upbeat feel to it from the word go. Unfortunately though for me, it seems to lack a cutting edge, sounding a little too dated for me in most parts. Its quite melodic throughout, with a pretty good baseline thrown in there under the beats, but for it just lacks a certain edge making it memorable. On the flip is the Liquefied Dub which seems to be a little more of the same. It is just as peak time as the Original mix and also features similar sounds and melodic patterns. The baseline is probably a bit bigger in this mix giving it a stronger groove then the a-side had. Overall, not a bad release but it is probably a bit short of the quality the label will need to reach in future releases. Worth a look though.
