- Sentient are only 3 releases old and are rapidly turning into my favourite label. Justin Garrett weaves his magic once more and Alex Santor is the result of his conjuring.
Tribal Salonika features two tracks Anadisis and Astra. Anadisis is up first and is a solid enough slab of tribal with atmospheric pads and wailing vocals all very nice but nothing really new, its Astra on the flip that takes the honours here.
Astra starts off with some tough tribal beats steadily building up the groove before bringing in a nice driving bassline. Theres some lovely mournfull strings in the build as well to keep things bubbling along nicely before the track drops into a section that sounds like something from a James Bond theme! Its quite incredible but it works really well and definitely makes this track stand out from others in the genre.
Overall this is a very solid effort and and another strong release for Sentient who are really delivering the goods right now!
