- The latest from Toronto-based artist Evan Vincent, AKA Emissive, lands on Canada's home for all things bubbly and dusty, Pacific Rhythm. Vincent has released on the label before, as part of the group Active Surplus with Ian Syrett. The first taster of his newest solo material is a bit leaner, taking its inspiration from a few different Black American dance music lineages. You hear this in two ways. First, the darting acid line and warm chords are very second wave Detroit. Second, "Love Science" has just the faintest touches of Drexciya, if not in style, then in effect, with its gentle melodies and robotic voices an invitation to reimagine the world otherwise.
