- Shauna Solomon is a name that has become synonymous with house music throughout the years. Take her latest production, “You Can Get Over”, throw in Chicago legend Ralph Rosario on the remix duties, and you have two of the finest house music pioneers who sound as fresh today as when the genre was first taking shape many years ago.
Side A features Rosario’s “Vox Club Dub”. This track highlights Solomon’s diva vocals, focusing on the theme of overcoming bad relationships. With Rosario’s signature sounds such as big room horns thrown over a throbbing bass line, the remix is house music with a definitive progressive edge to it.
The flipside offers a dub version with less emphasis on the vocals. Yet, while Solomon’s voice is still present, the “Big Room Dub” focuses more intently on the instruments, with the tribal drums and thick bass taking precedence. While both sides are excellent choices to keep a full room dancing, the dub version finds Rosario bringing it home in his well known Chicago style.
Undoubtedly, throwing two house music icons such as Shauna Solomon and Ralph Rosario together is bound to please any old skool house fanatic. However, what “You Can Get Over” achieves is not only pleasuring the ears of the house music loyalists, but appealing to many cross-over DJ’s as well, which is what any track as good as this one is bound to do.
