Well it’s not everyday that one comes across a track as beautiful as this. A DJ would have to play this either very early into a warm-up set or at a recovery set. It is an extremely laid back track with very earthy or nature sounds. Laid over this is a haunting and intensely moody melody. With no real bass line this is a track that could easily appear on one of the back-to-mine compilations. For those that are familiar with the first two Northern Exposure compilations by John Digweed and Sasha, you will know what I mean when I say that it is Northern Exposure Esq. Just an unbelievably beautiful track. The Ashtrax mix (AKA Ashley Casselle) is definitely more a club tune. The track starts out with more of a break beat feel to it, with a medium bass line and a nice kick. After a small break down it brings in the haunting melody which is used perfectly. Very different to the original but manages to keep the key elements. Another brilliant remix by a man who is going from strength to strength. James Holden has also done a remix of this track. If you know any of this guys tracks or remixes you will know what his ‘pixie-trance’ style is like. This version has the strongest bass line out of the three. The melody has been changed, giving it a bizarre touch that sounds like it was made on an old Casio keyboard. Despite what you may be thinking, and to James Holden’s credit, he makes it work perfectly. He has added a few extra samples over the top to give it a trancier and more uplifting touch. The original is amazing and you would struggle to find two people who were more suited to do a remix for this track. One of my favourite tracks of the year.
