The renovated shop-house-to-art space trend that's swept Charoenkrung and Talad Noi (Speedy Grandma, Soy Sauce Factory et al.) over the past year has arrived in Silom with Whiteline. It's founded by Oliver Wolfson, a filmmaker who arrived in Bangkok eight years ago to start his video production business Whiteline Media and here expands his passion with Whiteline Gallery and Bar.
Located on the corner of Silom Soi 8, this six-story building comprises a first floor dedicated to a grungy art space that's more than a little reminiscent of Soy Sauce from the paintings on the white-washed wall to the film projections and colorful lighting. The bar has already hosted a few music nights on the sly with familiar faces from Plastic Section and Sticky Rice, while it's about to launch a new party series, Rockers Reggae Club (starting Jun 12).
