Techno soul. Artist on Afro Acid. Boston via Atlanta.
Though Beyun has only been actively DJing since 2014, she is quickly proving herself to be a dominant force in the underground. In her first two years, she started a successful monthly techno party in Boston called VAULT and performed with DJ Pierre, Dennis Ferrer, The Black Madonna, DJ Minx, Fred P (Black Jazz Consortium), Kai Alce, Jeff Derringer, and Kim Ann Foxman. Recognizing her talent and ear for music, DJ Pierre invited Beyun to join his Afro Acid team in Atlanta and offered her a role as A&R and Label Manager for his record labels Afro Acid and Jack Trax.
Beyun was born in the Philippines to a Ukrainian-American father, a German mother, and given a Korean name. Her family moved from the Philippines to eastern Russia/Siberia in the early '90s, spending time in and out of Germany, and settling in Seattle after '95. In 2006 Beyun moved to Boston to study Physics at MIT. Her introduction to techno and house came in 2012 from the legendary Berlin clubs Berghain & Tresor and Frankfurt's Robert Johnson.
As the creator of VAULT, a monthly techno-focused party held on a Tuesday in Boston, Beyun was responsible for nearly every aspect of its production—from flyer design & photography, algorithmically-generated audio visuals, to audio-responsive DIY LED installations.
Trained in physics, electrical engineering, and computer science, Beyun searches for the intersection between music, art, and technology.
