DJ RAE is that unique dance industry combination of DJ, singer-songwriter, remixer and producer.
‘Take Me Away’ with DJ SKT took the house world by storm in 2015, earning plaudits from Pete Tong, Annie Mac and MK. Released on Azuli & went on to major release with Atlantic Records, hitting the Top 20 in the Official UK Singles Chart.
Rae has been driving a quality house agenda for some time now, largely under Defected Records’ patronage. Her debut release was as lead vocalist and songwriter with Kings Of Tomorrow on the 2008 anthem ‘Can’t Stop’, with further confident productions such as ‘Hide U’ (next to Rivera), ‘Give Me Luv’ and ‘It’s Over’ (with ATFC), ‘Your Words’ (with Studio Apartment) and ‘You Will Remember’ (with Michael Gray & Danism).
Rae was the first female artist to compile and mix the famous Defected In The House compilation in 2011 (with Tokyo In The House), featuring two of her own productions. She then sealed the deal in 2012 with the release of soaring solo escapade, ‘Another Day’.
More recently, Rae has released ‘The Boom Boom Room EP 2’ with Doorly (on Toolroom, 2013) ‘Not Gonna Love You’ with Nathan Dalton (on Audio Rehab, 2014) ‘Sirens’ with Danism (on Food Music 2014), Deep in Your Love EP’ (on Azuli, 2015). In total, these outings have enhanced her abilities as producer, performer, author and even remixer. In turn, they’ve cemented her status as a female house artist to be reckoned with.
In 2016, Rae released ‘Groove On’ on Spinnin’ Deep alongside Siege, followed by the massive ‘Harmony’ on Danny Howard’s label, Nothing Else Matters/Sony - a diverse collaboration with drum n bass don Adam F and up and coming UK house producer, Kokiri. ‘Harmony’ was championed by Annie Mac and MistaJam, with weekly plays on BBC Radio 1's Dance Anthems. At the end of 2016, Rae collaborated with UK house music duo Mandal & Forbes on ‘That Feeling’, which immediately made a huge impact on dance-floors and went Top 20 in the Beatport House charts. In February 2017, Rae releases her VIP mix of ‘That Feeling’ which is already shaping up to be another big hit.
Based between London and Ibiza, Rae has always been well placed to entertain the world’s key dance-floors. Moving easily between gigs built on emotive live performance and those smartly positioned soulful, improv vocals over A-grade tech DJing (not easily, or often done), Rae has clocked up prominent spots at festivals including iTunes, Pacha and Sunburn, headlined at Lakedance, hit high notes at ADE and WMC, and toured with Defected, Ministry of Sound and Pacha Worldwide.
Back to Ibiza, Rae was the first DJ-singer to perform at Ushuaia for Defected during its summer residency in 2011. She lengthened her love affair with the White Isle all year round by playing for Defected In The House, starting out at Pacha and more recently at Amnesia, as well as a monthly residency at Lio (formerly El Divino) and a winter residency with TEN at Pacha.
All this, whilst continuing to produce a swathe of new solo and collaborative material, delivering toplines to the industries key players, and a new project building hype in the underground, Rae is in a league of her own.
