Lithuania born, now Chicago based, Mantas Steles is a man in love with a sound that is in love with your body.
With his infectious energy, sophisticated ear, and tireless dedication, Mantas Steles has proven to be an artist to keep an eye on in Midwest’s underground dance music scene. Lithuania born, now Chicago based DJ, producer, event planner, and night owl, Mantas is a man in love with a sound that is in love with your body.
Sonically wise beyond his years, Mantas pushes the boundaries of Chicago’s audio palette. His sets tell a story of old and new with a blend of classic house, breaks, minimal and techno party jams altogether. Fans from Chicago and beyond have flocked to hear Mantas in ever-rising numbers. And as those who have witnessed his marathon after-party sessions know so well, it’s clear that the Stallion’s magic really works.
Soon after moving to the Windy City from his hometown of Kaunas, Lithuania at the tender age of 18, Mantas attended his first warehouse party. The rest is history. Being a regular guest at Smart Bar, America's oldest and longest running clubbing institution, and having played for such local promoters as Paradigm, Volatl, MiM and Varsity All Stars at various venues around town, Mantas’s latest accomplishment is a residency at Chicago's Spybar, a foremost purveyor of electronic music. By performing with artists as diverse as Raresh and Jan Krueger, Mantas has carefully honed his sound, tailoring his style to the event while still keeping things all his own. Having already spread his musical knowledge to places like Club der Visionaere in Berlin, Baum in Bogotá, Output in New York, TV Lounge and Leland City Club in Detroit.
The last few years have seen big things for Mantas and his crew. In addition to working on production, in the fall of 2012 Mantas teamed up with his fellow partner in crime Max Jacobson to bring Tied to life - a party series that has already hosted the talents of D'julz, Giles Smith, DeWalta, Priku, Anthea, Masomenos, Virginia, Federico Molinari, Anthony Collins and many more. Tied Collective was born in 2014 with the addition of Ari Frank to the team, and the boys went on to follow their dream and start their own record label in the fall of 2015. Selected as "Best nomadic collective for underground techno" by critics of Chicago Reader later that same year, the trio keeps on pushing boundaries of expectations. As dance music spirals into the mainstream, Tied keeps Windy City well anchored to its underground roots.
First part of 2015 had also seen Mantas's first release come to life in collaboration with Max Jacobson titled "Story of Now EP" on Frankfurt's Baile Musik. Still taking time to perfect his craft, but following his deep beliefs and vision, Mantas has got some exciting projects lined up by himself, as well as a part of Tied Collective together with Max and Ari - their "Nava EP" came out on Visionquest's sub-label Brachtune in May of 2016, and his solo debut "Notebeg EP" was released on Chicago's Klectik Records in December of the same year.
Forever young, forever strong... there is no telling what’s in store for Mantas’s future.
